According to an article in The Saanich News, a community meet-and-greet at a local horseshoe club is taking place this Saturday (October 20th) in Victoria, British Columbia. The project, created in Landmark Education’s SELP by Janet Lum, is taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Victoria Horseshoe Pitching Association on 620 Kenneth St.
The event is designed for the community to be able to come together and socialize, while enjoying horseshoes. A hundred volunteers from the horseshoe club are helping make the event a reality, and local businesses and community groups are also pitching in. “When I was a child we used to have block parties and everybody knew each other,” said Lum. “That doesn’t happen any more and not many people know their communities.”
