As her project in Landmark Education’s Self-Expression and Leadership Program, Deborah Morkut turned her affinity for animals into a fundraiser for the Michigan Humane Society (MHS). Morkut, who works in a haircutting salon, arranged for a haircutting day where the proceeds of all cuts go to the MHS. The event is taking place at the American Legion Post 32, located at 9318 Newburgh in Livonia.
In addition to raising money from haircuts, T-shirts and manicure and pedicure kits will also be sold to benefit the MHS. Morkut hopes to raise $3,000, which will pay for the costs of 20 homeless animals being adopted.
