Feeding People at Home and Abroad

Annie Brown’s project in the Landmark Education Self-Expression and Leadership Program tackled hunger in more than one way – she both organized a food collection for a food bank in her home state of Maryland, as well as organizing tens of thousands meals to be sent to a school feeding program overseas, in the developing world.

Brown organized about 100 volunteers to assemble about 25,000 dehydrated meals (in partnership with Stop Hunger Now, a larger hunger relief organization), and arranged the collection of several hundred foot items for the Maryland Food Bank.

To fund these efforts, Brown put on a Valentines Day dance party/fundraiser, which included music, food, drinks and a silent auction.
