Sing Out Against Hunger, the Musical fundraiser for the hungry in Rhode Island formed by Jane Bitto in her Self-Expression and Leadership program back in 2003, is still going strong as an annual fundraiser/foodraiser. This year’s festival will be held on September 7th to 9th. The Providence Journal mentioned the event:
Singing Out Against Hunger: Evelyn’s Drive-In will host the sixth annual Singing Out Against Hunger (SOAH) Friday, Saturdayand Sunday. The event includes free live music and fundraising to fill the local East Bay food banks. Canned goods will be collected, raffles will be held and donations will be accepted to raise the most money possible. Musicians will be held at three locations — Evelyn’s Drive-In and Coastal Roasters, Main Road, and the Little Compton Community Center, the Commons, Little Compton.
All of SOAH’s canned goods and raised money stays in Rhode Island’s East Bay community. This helps to support local individuals and families in need. Besides the SOAH committee, the many volunteers and more than 60 musicians who support the cause, SOAH has support from more than 250 local businesses that donate time, money and raffle and auction items.
